COVID-19 Updates
April 21, 2020. The governor announced that schools in Nevada would not return to their physical spaces. Instead, we will continue this current format of providing students with online coursework via Google Classroom, as well as paper packets.
enCompass plans to mail out paper packets to ALL students for the month of May. This will ensure that all students have the ability to access both paper and online supports for their coursework. These packets will include valuable updates, as well as all student work for the month organized by week. There are instructions within the packet detailing how work can be returned: students can put all completed work in the included postage paid envelope, work can be dropped off between 12 and 2 p.m. either May 19 or June 2 at the school, or students can continue to submit assignments using Google classroom or emailing their teachers. We recognize how difficult this time has been for our families, especially as this is a special time of year. All student grades are hold harmless, meaning they will not decrease from the grade posted in Infinite Campus on April 1, 2020. Students do, however, have the opportunity to increase their grades. Please encourage your student to work to improve their final grades, and to work on those classes they are most concerned on. enCompass teachers and staff will continue to reach out on a weekly basis via email, phone, and text, and through their office hours, to make sure that all students have the support they need to complete their assignments. Additionally, there is a daily morning meeting video that I post in the Google Classroom entitled enCompass Schoolwide Forums that provides students with valuable updates on a daily basis. Encourage your student to watch these daily updates.
If there is anything we can do to support your student or your family, including providing technology, food resources, or additional academic support, please reach out. enCompass Academy is here to support you and your family in this time.

April 1, 2020. In keeping with directives from the President, the governor announced that all school buildings would remain closed, and all education programs would continue to provide services in a remote learning format until April 30, 2020.
March 27, 2020. We have sent out a mailing, both email and postal, to every family outlining how to access Google Classroom and pick up packets. Additionally, we have been making one-to-one phone calls for each of our families to answer questions and make sure every family is aware of what is going on. A reminder that you can contact the school at (775)322-5566 and leave a message with any questions, someone will reach out to you. Additionally, you can email Toby Wiedenmayer.
Once again, we will begin our remote learning plan on April 1, 2020. As of right now, it is scheduled to continue with this plan through April 16, 2020, but as this is a fluid situation, we will not know exactly what the next steps will be. During this time, please know that it is our goal to continue to provide equitable support for all of our students. We will check in with families again to ensure that needs are being met. enCompass students can expect to spend no more than 2 to 4 hours per day on schoolwork. Assignments will serve as recognition that the students have been attending school, and students will receive feedback on the work they submit. Click here to visit our Remote Learning Page, which has information on how to access Google Classroom and how to get a printed packet. Assignments will be uploaded by April 1, 2020 on this page as well, in case accessing Google Classroom or the packet is not possible.

March 20, 2020. As of about 7 p.m. this evening, it became clear that schools will not reopen their physical spaces until at least April 16, 2020. The Governor released additional information this evening, and has been in discussions with the Jhone Ebert, the Nevada Superintendent. At enCompass, we have been working on a remote learning plan so that students can stay on track with their learning while at home. Students will be given work remotely beginning Monday, March 30, and will have the ability to still earn credits and complete their course requirements. In addition, the state has sent an application to the Department of Education requesting a waiver for all remaining assessments. As additional information becomes available, we will be sharing this information with you.
Know that we are engaged in the process of evaluating all next steps, including major events. As of right now, we have postponed the Futures So Bright fundraiser on April 24, and are potentially going to have to cancel our prom on May 2. These are very difficult decisions, as we recognize the importance of this time of year for all students and their families. Decisions we make are built upon the foundation of the health and safety for all students and their families. As we receive information from the state and school district, we will be sure to disseminate the information to you.
In the meantime, please continue to check on this website for updated information. Please feel free to email Toby Wiedenmayer any questions.

March 17, 2020. First and foremost, we know that this is a disruptive, nerve-racking time. enCompass is committed to providing information and services to all our students and families. We have set up a student and family support page that identifies local community supports that are providing resources to our families. Click on the link here.
enCompass is taking steps to be able to offer coursework online. Online coursework will begin on March 30, and will extend through April 3, 2020 at this time. Assignments and activities will be posted using Google Classroom from each instructor. Additionally, teachers will have the ability to reach out to students via email, chat, Google Meet, and regular phone.
We recognize that it takes more than just a digital platform to provide for our students, and as such, we will be working to create learning environments that enable student discussion and contact with instructors. We will be using a combination between Google Classroom, and the online formats that have already been established through Edmentum. Each student of enCompass has a google login for email. In most cases, the username is:
students first initial followed by their last name @ encompassacademy.org
Example: for John Doe, the email would be jdoe@encompassacademy.org
Their passwords are their birthday in the following format: month.day.year
Example: if the student’s birthday is January 1, 2006, the password would be 01.01.06
Once the student is logged in, they will have access to email, Google Drive, Google Calendar, and Google Classroom. I have attached a great presentation below this article that shows how to get to Google Classroom. Additionally, students can download the Google Classroom App on their phone or mobile device.
To get into Edmentum, their login information is very similar. Students will go to https://ple.platoweb.com
Account Login: rcchs
Username: first initial followed by last nam (jdoe)
Password: student’s birthday, as above.
When students log in to either site, they will see the courses they are enrolled in that are specific to them and nothing more.
If for any reason a student is not able to access their email and Google Classroom site, please complete the request form below to alert administration so we can troubleshoot.
We will have additional information as we proceed with the courses. Please stay patient!

March 15, 2020. Governor Sisolak, in coordination with the Nevada Department of Education and district superintendents around Nevada, ordered all of the state's K-12 schools to close for students starting tomorrow and remaining closed, at a minimum, until April 6, 2020. enCompass Academy, with the rest of the Washoe County School District, is on spring break until March 27, 2020. Rather than returning on March 30, we will extend the break until April 3, 2020. At this time, we are awaiting determinations by the state and school district as to whether we are able to provide online learning opportunities or whether we must add additional days to the school year. As this is a very fluid time, we will be updating this page often.
Please understand that if we make a major determination about curriculum, we will be sure to notify families with all options well in advance. As a Washoe County School District sponsored charter, we will follow the recommendations of the district. As such, feel free to visit their site for updates as well: https://www.washoeschools.net/covid19.
enCompass prizes the health and safety of its students, faculty, and families above all else, and will ultimately follow the guidance of the CDC in all decision making.
